We’re on a mission. We’re determined to attack those hard to reach places at home, the ones with the thick layer of dust because you could never find out exactly how to get into those tiny nooks and crannies. Well fear no more because we’ve complied a list of the top 13 tricks you need to clean even the most inaccessible parts of your house.
1. Clean dust from blinds
Wrap your salad tongs in a microfibre cloth and secure in place with rubber bands.
2. Vacuum those hard to reach places around windows
If your window frame or patio doors are a little dusty and you can’t quite clean all of it with a cloth or the vacuum cleaner nozzle, use an empty toilet paper roll as a hose extension.
3. Clean every nook and cranny in the car
With a cotton bud, you can efficiently remove dirt from even the most hard to reach places in your car.
4. Clean your computer keyboard
Did you know that computer keyboards have more germs than toilet seats? Eurgh. Our top tip? Remove the dust and crumbs from in between the keys with a post-it. Fold it in half so that the sticky side can collect the dirt.
5. Remove dust from your mattress
Sprinkle a bit of baking soda on your mattress and wait about 10 minutes. After vacuuming, your mattress will be like new.
6. Remove limescale build up from taps
Use an old toothbrush and a little baking soda to make your taps shine again.
7. Clean the knife holder
You can wash a knife holder by putting it in a basin of warm water. Wait ten minutes and wipe it with a sponge.
8. Tired of that dust on your lamp?
You can use the adhesive/sticky roll you use for your clothes or animal hair to make it look as good as new.
9. Clean the shower cabin
Apply a mixture of sodium bicarbonate with lemon juice to the rail. Let it work for 5 minutes and then scrub with a brush.
10. No more dirt or limescale in your shower head
Mix 1/3 cup of baking soda with a cup of vinegar. Put the mixture into a plastic bag and place it over the shower head, as per the photo. Making sure that you don’t spill the liquid. Leave it for 2 – 3 hours.
11. Remove dirt and dust from vents
Wrap a damp cloth with water or detergent around a knife and get dusting!
12. Did you know that you can put the shower curtain in the washing machine?
Of course you can! We suggest that you wrap it in several towels to prevent it ripping.
13. Wipe out stains
You can use a rubber to remove black stains like soil from the floor.
And tada! You now have a home that is spick and span… ready to invite guests!
